Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Ferran Torres from Barcelona, with the move confirmed on 15 August 2026. The Ligue 1 champions paid a reported €50 million for the Spain forward, a fixed fee with no further add-ons, after an opening offer of around €40 million was turned down by Barcelona earlier in the window. Torres has signed a five-year contract running until 2031 and has been handed the number nine shirt at the Parc des Princes. It brings to an end four and a half years at Barcelona, where he arrived from Manchester City in December 2021.
PSG moved for Torres to fill the gap left by Gonçalo Ramos, who departed for AC Milan this summer, and to add a proven finisher to Luis Enrique's forward line. The transfer also reunites Torres with a coach he already knows well: Enrique managed him with the Spain national team, including this summer's World Cup win. Speaking after the signing, Enrique called Torres 'a world-class player' who 'fits perfectly with what we're looking for,' pointing to his versatility across the front line. 'He's a player who can play in any attacking position,' Enrique said. 'We value his mentality.' For Barcelona, the sale removes their leading league scorer from last season and leaves head coach Hansi Flick without a recognised senior centre-forward, coming so soon after Robert Lewandowski's departure to Chicago Fire. With Torres having less than a year left on his contract, the club viewed the €50 million fee as sound business rather than a reluctant sale. Barcelona are now working to bring in a replacement before the window closes, with Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez their preferred target, though a deal has proved difficult to negotiate given Atletico's reluctance to sell to a rival. Torres leaves Barcelona on the back of his best goalscoring season in Spain. Torres began his career as a winger but has spent the last two seasons at Barcelona playing predominantly as a central striker, and PSG are expected to use him in a similar role, with reports suggesting Luis Enrique could deploy him in a false-nine system rather than as a fixed target man. That would suit a PSG side built around movement and interchange in the final third, alongside players such as Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola. With the Trophée des Champions and the new Ligue 1 season both on the horizon, Torres could be involved for his new club within days of putting pen to paper.
